🏀ABA - Alien Basketball Association

What is the ABA?

  • The ABA is a fully simulated basketball league created by GPS for The Alien Boy community.

  • The league is currently in its 4th season and consists of 90 teams across 3 divisions.

  • There are over 500 players in the league, with teams composed of 5 players each.

  • The game format consists of 100 possessions split into 25 possession quarters.

  • Some games are streamed live on Discord in The Alien Boy Discord server each week.

  • Participants in the league have the ability to own players and teams.

How to get involved?

  1. You will need an Alien Boy or Alien Girl NFT with a basketball jersey trait.

  2. Check if your Boy or Girl is already signed up for the league. If not, there are opportunities to sign up new players throughout the year.

  3. Once your player is signed up, they will receive a stat assignment. These stats are based on NBA seasons and are displayed as 0-100 values across 6 stat categories: shooting, passing, usage, turnover, rebounding, and defense.

  4. After the stat assignments, you become a free agent and can be signed to a team throughout the season.

How can I own a team?

  • Team auctions for unowned teams open up periodically.

  • You can participate in these auctions using the community token "Fock".

  • Team tokens are also listed on Opensea and can be purchased with Ethereum.

Team ownership in the ABA gives you full control of a team. You can manage your roster during transfer windows, and you have the ability to cut and sign players using the community token "Fock".

What if my player isn't good?

  • At the beginning of each season, there are stat reroll opportunities. These rerolls may have both free and paid options.

  • It's important to remember that the assigned stat numbers may not always tell the full story of the player and can sometimes be misleading.

  • To see the full potential of your player, it's important to also look at the stats they put up in a game.

  • There are ways to earn fans for your players, and the Alien Doogle collection, which also has jersey traits, can be used to earn boosts for Boys and Girls.

  • You can sign your players up to participate in off-stream 1v1 matchups.

Do I have to like basketball?

  • Enjoying the game of basketball certainly helps, but you do not need to be a basketball superfan to follow along with the action.

  • The ABA can still be a fun competitive experience even if you have little to no knowledge of the sport.

Do I have to attend games?

  • No, you do not need to attend the live stream of the games.

  • Your players will still play whether you are there or not.

  • The game stats are always posted after the games are finished, and you can view them at any time.

  • Sometimes there may be incentives offered for attendance, but it is not required to be competitive.

Do Power Ballers have extra value?

  • Yes, Power Ballers have extra value and each gain a stat boost according to their power trait.

  • The power traits and boosts are as follows:

    • Laser: 10% 3-point boost

    • Night-vision: 10% assist boost

    • Telepathy: 10% steal boost

    • Infrared: 10% turnover reduction

    • Magnetic Field: 10% block boost

    • Electric Thunder: 10% 2-point boost

    • Echolocation: 10% rebound boost

Does playing in the ABA cost me anything?

  • Outside of the initial cost of a Boy or Girl baller, playing in the ABA is completely free.

  • Anything that requires payment can be paid with the community token.

  • You can passively earn this community token by staking your Alien Boy assets on the Alien Boy website.

What about UFOs?

  • UFOs within The Alien Boy ecosystem that have ABA traits can be used to prevent your teams from accruing fatigue throughout the season and playoffs.

  • Fatigue is reflected as negative stat boosts that stack every 5 games, increasing at a rate of 0.2% per game.

  • Each UFO can clear a certain percentage of fatigue: the first UFO clears 5%, the second clears 2.5%, the third clears 1.25%, and so on.

  • You can assign any number of UFOs that you own to a team, and each UFO will provide 2000 fans for your team.

What do I get for winning?

  • If you manage to win one of the divisions in the ABA, you will receive a percentage of the community token prize pool based on the division you win.

  • In Division 1, there were NFT trophies for Champion, MVP, DPOY (Defensive Player of the Year), and First and Second Team ABA.

How do stat boosts work?

  • Stat boosts apply to all stat categories except usage.

  • If a player is rerolled, they will forfeit half of their stat boost if they have earned one.

  • Stat boosts are represented by the amount of fans a player has and their team chemistry percentage.

  • Players can win and lose fans throughout the season.

  • All previous stat boosts that players have gained are being replaced by 1000 fans for each 1% boost.

What is Player Chemistry?

  • Player chemistry is used to determine the amount of benefit your players can receive from their fans.

  • Player chemistry is calculated based on three factors:

    • The percentage of games played with the team.

    • The percentage of games played with their teammates.

    • How long they have kept their stat roll.

How do I sign a free agent/add players to a team?

  • If you own a team, you have the ability to sign players during any free agent period.

  • The owner of the player you want to sign must agree to be signed, and the "Fock" price of the player is paid to the ABA.

  • You can also make trades during trade periods, but both owners involved in the trade must agree to it.

What if my player is on a team I don't own?

  • If your player is on a team you don't own, you have a couple of options.

  • First, you can ask the owner of the team for a release. If they agree, the player will be released and you can sign them to your own team.

  • If the owner does not want to release the player, you can demand a release if you have a player token or release token (which can be purchased from the Fock store).

  • To demand a release, you will need to send the token to the ABA.
